Is this how it'll be?

Back from another Fitness First workout. Moving to do more weights but still maintaining my 12-min run on the treadmill. Can keep 10.5-5m now.. hope to improve that to 8m and up the tempo. Burnt 100cal within 10min.

What's my target? To have toned muscles like this? Hmm.... seriously, those advertisers sure know which sweet spot to press on. hehe.....

Liverpool's new Adidas kit

Liverpool ended its contract with Reebok (thank god!) and signed up with Adidas. Today they launched 4 new kits under the famous three-stripes. Certainly looks much better than their Reebok kits!

I might even be tempted to pick one up myself. hehe.

Finally found it - Polo Sport for Woman!

After much searching to find some remaining stock for the-now-discontinued Polo Sport for Woman fragrance.. I managed to locate one last unit at Metrojaya BB Plaza! It was wrapped in a package (together with a Polo Sport for Man) so I asked the promoter whether they still sell PSW separately.

She was so happy that someone was inquiring about PSW and offered to unwrap it from the package to sell on its own (for just rm139)!

Got a nice small Polo Sport bag and a Ralph Lauren Blue shower gel as gifts. Great! Now Yan can have her own sport fragrance when doing workouts at Fitness First. :)

Goodbye to a great footballer (Bergkamp)

Arsenal yest played for the 1st time at their spanking new Emirates Stadium, a 60,000-seater in a friendly against Ajax. But the match was also a testimonial match for one player who has graced Arsenal for 11 seasons..... the prolific Dennis Bergkamp (who started with Ajax).

Bergkamp is retiring at the age of 37, having played 423 times for the Gunners and scoring 120 goals. He also won 10 major honours with the Gunners (except he still has yet to get his hands on a Champions League medal).

Bergkamp started with Ajax in '86 and in '93 he joined Inter Milan before he made his move to Arsenal in '95. Bergkamp has made 79 appearances in the Oranje team and scored an all-time record of 37 goals for his country.

His best goal in my opinion was that late AWESOME strike (with only 32 secs left) against the Argentines in the '98 World Cup where Netherland won 2-1.

I salute you, Dennis Bergkamp!

Polo Sport, one of my fave

Just bought myself a replacement bottle. This is one of my fave fragrance... especially after workout! There's nothing nicer than spraying some Polo Sport onto your refreshed body. Nice.

The disappointing thing is that they have discontinued the Polo Sport for Women series. sigh. Was thinking of getting a bottle for Yan.

Liverpool in Top 8 Seeds for this season's Champions League...

... but first they have to qualified from a 2-legged match. Can be tricky.. but then again, if you cannot even get thru such qualification match, it matters not whether you are seeded or not.

MU and Arsenal are in this Top Seeds group but Chelsea (hehe) is not.

Last season we were not doing too badly in the CL but got knocked out in the QF more likely becoz we were trying to concentrate too hard on the EPL. All the best to the Reds.

The draw for the group stages of the competition will take place in Monaco in August. Top pot of seeds for Champions League according to current UEFA co-efficient:
  1. Barcelona (Spa) 127.0pts,
  2. Real Madrid (Spa) 120.0,
  3. Inter Milan (Ita) 112.0+,
  4. Liverpool (Eng) 105.9,
  5. Arsenal (Eng) 101.9,
  6. Man Utd (Eng) 100.9,
  7. Valencia (Spa) 95.0,
  8. Lyon (Fra) 89.7.

Second seeds:

  1. Porto (Por) 87.5,
  2. PSV Eindhoven (Hol) 81.6,
  3. Bayern Munich (Ger) 80.9,
  4. Chelsea (Eng) 79.9,
  5. Roma (Ita) 76.0,
  6. Ajax (Hol) 60.6,
  7. Celtic (Sco) 60.0,
  8. Lille (Fra) 54.7.

Most ppl do agree the world is getting warmer generally. And this warming up of our green globe (or what was once green) is causing much side-effects, the most prominent being our sorching weather mixed with torrential rain!

If anyone is still not convinced of global warming, here's a funny pic that shows you the proof! hehe

Adieu Zidane...

Tonite the footballing world shall bid farewell to (my opinion) the best football player since Pele. His touches, his vision and his quickness when he was at his prime had no peer. And even today, at the age of 36, he has shown to the world in football's biggest stage that along with his consumate footballing skills, he has the tenacity to deliver on those skills when needed most.

'plays as if he has silk gloves on each foot' (Alfredo Di Stefano)

'can do things with his feet that others cannot do with their hands' (Thierry Henry)

'The game, the event, is not necessarily experienced or remembered in real time. My memories are fragmented - whenever something amazing happened I would remember playing in another place, at another time. Someone passed the ball to me and, before even touching it, I knew exactly what was going to happen. I knew I was going to score.' (Zinedine Zidane on scoring the spectacular volley that ended Bayern Leverkusen's Champion's League dreams in 2002).

So Zidane, let's have one more night of magic from you tonite.... cheers!

10 Reasons to support Italy

If you still haven't make up your mind as to why you should support the Azurris, here are ten reasons for you to mull over.

1 Friendly relations The French word for English is "Les Rosbifs", a reference to sunburnt tourists in dreadful shorts from Primark. Italians have no such derogatory term

2 Food Pasta, pizza, pesto, coffee - in fact every item of fast food you've had delivered to your door since you first bolted yourself to the sofa on June 9

3 Simone Perrotta Post-match BBC interview with the player who lived in Greater Manchester until he was six is likely to include the phrases "sorted" and "I'm buzzing"

4 Proper fans Italian fans have the good grace to light flares, whirl scarves around their heads and sing very loudly. Expect a French victory to be met with polite applause

5 Miserable Marcel The best part of France v Portugal was Marcel Desailly shouting about "my friend Zidane". We've seen him happy. What's he like when he's sad?

6 The Gattusos Midfielder Gattuso has a Scottish wife from his spell at Rangers - and thus has a precise but limited grasp of English, based around the phrases "Where did I put my keys?" and "Hurry up we're late"

7 Corruption What with an ex-prime minister facing the beak and a Serie A corruption scandal, Italy might have been hoping to slip quietly out of view. No chance now

8 Adopted Englishmen Luther Blissett has been adopted as a figurehead by a Milanese anarchist movement. Luca Toni as a British Marxist icon?

9 Fashionista Italians are professed admirers of English fashion and style. As opposed to the French, who to take a contrary view.

10 Order of the boot Italy is the only country shaped like a high-heeled football boot. Don't fight it.

Now, go get some sleep so that you can stay up tonite to watch the game!

10 Reasons to support France

Ok, we are down to the last two after Germany confirmed their status as the 3rd Ranking Team in the World (at least until the next World Cup). Not any of my fave teams but then if you are looking for reasons to support any of them, here's ten reasons for France.

1 Good night's sleep An Italian victory will inspire your local ex-pat community to drive around in fiats beeping their horns until the wee hours.

2 Commiserations Italian players are far more entertaining in defeat. Expect wild mourning, large, floppy-haired men weeping dramatically and mass resignations/retirements

3 Zidane worship French success will speed the Gallic cult of Zidane, leading to an eventual Henry VIII-style schism with the Church Of Rome and founding of Zidanglican faith

4 Fabien Barthez Command of physical comedy and bald fellow good looks have single-handedly rekindled interest in the film oeuvre of British acting great Donald Pleasance

5 Henry's ear Thierry Henry is likely to maintain his hand-cupped-to-ear celebration for so long he suffers temporary paralysis of the elbow. Which should be a laugh

6 Makelele's gift to the Premierhsip Appearances in the Chelsea midfield have enriched the English language with the phrase "that Makelele role"

7 Chimbonda's World Cup The man who was too big for Wigan has been out Walcotting our own Theo - on the bench all the way to the final. Bound be first to get his hands on the trophy

8 The Walliams effect We're all brothers now after the Little Britain star's record-breaking crossing of La Manche this week. They give us fine wine and cheese. We give them a man smeared in Vaseline.

9 Three degrees of separation France win the World Cup. France beat Portugal. Portugal beat England. We're only three steps away from glory

10 They're due a win at something Of course we don't like to gloat but losing the Olympics must have come as a bit of a blow. Not that we like to gloat.

Next post will be 10 reasons why you should support Italy. hehe....

The honesty in Gerrard

When Steven Gerrard was asked by the press before the England-Portugal Quarterfinal (which they subsequently lost), Gerrard's reply simply underlined why he's such an important keg in the Liverpool team.

Here's his reply. Read the full article here.

When he was asked, on the eve of today's quarter-final against Portugal, whether England could win the tournament if they carried on playing the way they have played in their first four matches, he avoided the verbal formulations used by most of the squad, including the head coach, to deflect the unwelcome thought. "I don't think so," he said, missing a beat. "Do you? I don't."
